Andrew Sharpless

Andrew Sharpless is CEO of Oceana, the world’s largest international conservation organization solely dedicated to protecting the oceans. Under Sharpless, Oceana has quadrupled in size and, most importantly, has won policy victories that could increase fish populations in some countries by as much as 40 percent and that protect more than one million square miles of ocean. Recently, Sharpless and Oceana launched the “Save the Oceans: Feed the World Campaign.”  As a result, Oceana now has campaign offices in the countries that control close to 25 percent of the world’s wild fish catch, including in North, South and Central America, Asia, and Europe.  Mr. Sharpless has written a book about how to “Save the Oceans and Feed the World” entitled “The Perfect Protein” (see theperfectprotein.org).  Prior to joining the organization in 2003, Sharpless held top-level positions with the Discovery Channel, RealNetworks, the Museum of Television & Radio, and McKinsey & Co. He holds degrees from Harvard Law School, the London School of Economics, and Harvard College.
